Property Description

The "Vier Birken" (Four Birches") cottage (approx. 55 m) is in a quiet location on the edge of the forest in the town of Weissenbrunn in the Franconian forest nature reserve. The holiday home is situated on the ground floor of the house in which the owner also resides. Weissenbrunn lies on the "beer and fortress road" (B85) between Kulmbach and Kronach in the heart of the Franconian forest nature reserve. The hamlet of Eichenbühl is situated in a densely wooded area above the lovely Rodach valley. There are many opportunities for hiking or excursions in the surrounding area. There are restaurants in Weissenbrunn (2 km away) and in Hummendorf (1 km away). There is also a very nice open-air swimming pool in Weissenbrunn. The towns of Bayreuth, Bamberg, Coburg and Hof are between 40 and 60 km away, and it is approx. 7 km to the medieval town of Kronach. The Vierzehnheiligen ("Fourteen Saints") pilgrimage church and baroque basilica as well as Banz Monastery are within a radius of approx. 25 km. You will be able to see both in the distance from either side of the Obermaintal, the upper valley of the river. One of Germanys most imposing fortresses, the Plassenburg, with the world-famous Zinnfigurenmuseum, a museum with an outstanding collection of tin figures, is situated in Kulmbach. Whilst in Kulmbach, which is also known as the secret beer capital, you will have the opportunity to try the strongest beer in the world (EKU 28). The Deutsches Dampflokmuseum (German Steam Locomotive Museum) in Neumarkt/Wirsberg has 30 restored steam locomotives from 1909 to 1956 on display. On certain days you will even be able to ride on the Steam Museum Railway. You will have the chance to go rafting on the Wilde Rodach on Saturdays during the period from May to September. This tradition is continued since timber rafting on the Wilde Rodach was a major source of income for the inhabitants of the Franconian forest until about 1960. You can of course also visit the numerous sawmills and the Rafting Museum in Marktrodach. You will find further information on the wide range cultural and entertainment facilities in Weissenbrunn and the surrounding area in the information folder which is on display in the holiday home. Enjoy your holiday in the Franconian forest nature reserve!
